A grant is now available for flood barriers for properties hit by flooding in Midleton and East Cork during Storm Babet last year
€5.8 million in funding has been made available to the County Council to install the property protection measures at over 900 homes and businesses in the area
Last year the town was left under 3 feet of water leaving hundreds of people stranded in their homes and businesses, thousands were left without power and water
and cars become submerged in flood waters
Speaking to RedFM News Caroline Leahy of Midleton Flood Action Group says an information briefing on how to access the property protection scheme is being held in the town tonight
"There's a grant available now for individual flood barriers for homes and businesses. There's a form available on the Council website, on yourcouncil.ie and our group is running a workshop tonight in Midleton GAA from 7.30pm to give people a hand with any applications that they might need assistance with. They just need to bring along some photographs that's needed in some situations. The closing date for that grant is the 11th and November so it's a very short window"
