An award winning pub in Charleville is counting the cost after heavy snow led to the collapse of the roof of an outdoor bar area.

Geary’s Bar on the main street says the retractable roof, which cost ninety thousand euro, failed yesterday after fourteen inches of snow fell on Saturday night.

Speaking to RedFM News, General Manager of Geary’s, Corina Gough outlines the impact it will have on the business:

"It has crumbled, literally everything, steel girders, exposed wires, everywhere, speakers, television, furniture, everything is just right. It would be about 70% of our business, really, because it's heated and we got a lot of parties out there, even just earlier on, I to cancel the booking now for Friday, two weeks."
