Home owners in Cork city could see their local property tax increase following a council meeting tonight.
The Irish Examiner reports the tax could help to bridge a €4 million gap in the city finances due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Council can raise or reduce the amount of tax by 15%, which could see homeowners pay between €74 and €155 extra next year.
Services such as street sweeping and road and footpath maintenance could be impacted by the budget deficit, and there are also fears that anti social behaviour could increase due to a reduced security budget.
