The First Munster hostel for Defence Forces veterans is to open in Cobh in September.
Five ensuite rooms will house veterans and the building at Harbour Row will also act as a drop-in centre for other veterans.
The €500,000 project was spearheaded by local members of the Organisation for National Ex-Servicemen.
The hostel is the first of its type in Munster.
