The house in which a body was found in Mallow was not council owned.
The Echo report that Cork County Council have offered their deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased person following the discovery of the body in a boarded up on house on Friday, and have confirmed that the house was privately owned.
It's thought the body may have been in the house for more than 20 years, and was discovered during an investigation of the house by the County Council following a Compulsory Purchase Order notice.
Gardai say enquiries are ongoing.
