Housing has moved from being a social problem, to a key business problem.

That's according to Rory Kelleher, Director of Public Affairs at Cork Chamber who was speaking after the publication of the Chamber's Economic Trends report.

The report highlights the lack of housing as a major barrier to business growth in Cork

However, the report also found that personal business confidence remains very high at 90%

Speaking to RedFM News, Rory Kelleher says people are taking up jobs in Cork, but are left with nowhere to live:

"It's positive in terms that there's a lot of job creation in Cork. There's a lot of big announcements recently: Merck, Apple... But in terms of people moving to Cork, they can't find somewhere to live. So anecdotally, people take up jobs and they can't find accommodation. So it's really in terms of that investment in infrastructure and delivery of infrastructure in Cork to support job creation. You know, there's a really positive story about Cork in terms of the recent investments and the job creation. We just need to get those infrastructure pieces in place so people can take up the jobs and stay in Cork".
