The government today said building started last year on just over 30,000 new homes.
This was the largest number of commencements since the financial crisis - but price inflation is still at its highest level in over three years.
But Darragh O’Brien says he is confident the issue will be addressed:
"We've seen house price inflation here in Ireland, all across Europe I might add as well. It's not just a phenomenon here in Ireland, and rental inflation too. So we need to see that pulled back now. I do think the measures on affordability are going to help. We're gonna see some help this year already. We'll 4,100 new affordable homes we're targeting this year 2022."
