There is a huge disparity between the city and the county in how much it costs households to get a fire put out.
The Irish Examiner is reporting this morning that while the City Council doesn't charge for the essential service, the County Council charges the second highest rate in the country - at 1,320 euro.
It reports that Insurance Ireland says call-outs are only covered where there's damage to property that is insured.
The highest charge was seen in Westmeath, where a one-hour call-out to a domestic blaze could set homeowners back 1,350 euro - 30 euro more than Cork County.
