The husband of a Carrigaline Woman who died before she knew she was part of th CervicalCheck Scandal has welcomed the wording of the new Patients Rights Bill
lrene Teap was just 35-year-old when she died of Cervical Cancer in July 2017.
Families of women affected by the scandal have been pushing for a law to protect other patients for years.
The new Patients' Rights Bill was passed on Wednesday.
Speaking to RedFM News, Irene's husband Stephen Teap says getting the bill this far has been a long process:
"It took us a long time to get the wording correct. There was plenty of meetings with the Department on this and amongst ourselves, particularly the wording around the patient review. I suppose our focus was on the women in the screening programme, getting information to them, but the right to get that information as well. So it was a relief to get that wording. So very satisfied".
