Ian Bailey says he's concerned about his safety after receiving death threats over Sophie Toscan du Plantier's murder.
The English journalist and poet has spoken out ahead of the 25th anniversary of the west Cork crime.
The French film-maker was killed with a rock and a concrete block in Schull in December 1996.
Mr Bailey was never charged with the crime - but outlines one of the recent death threats he received over it.
"Nov 1st at midnight, he says "I threaten you, because all I want when I see you I'll do to you what you done to Sophie'.
"This guy could turn up, and he sounds like a psychopath to me, and would I recognise him? No.
"I'm being quite careful about my own personal security, and when I'm out I'll have my back covered."
