The adjournment is to allow a Garda in charge of Bantry Garda station on the day of the alleged offences to be in court.
State solicitor for West Cork Malachy Boohig told a sitting of Cork Circuit Appeals Court that it was "rather unusual" for a member in charge to be called to give evidence.
Ian Bailey, formerly of the Prairie, Lisscaha in Schull was disqualified from driving for one year and fined €700 in May last year after being convicted of drug driving near Schull in August 2019.
A small tin of cannabis was found on the former journalist following his arrest at a Garda checkpoint.
The court heard that Bailey had failed an oral fluid test and that blood samples taken by a doctor at Bantry Garda Station later tested positive for the presence of cannabis.
The appeal hearing will be heard in Clonakilty on the 6th of October.
