Works to improve a notorious stretch of road in North Cork are underway following the formal signing-off of contracts yesterday.
Sorensen Civil Engineering won the tender to improve a section of the N73 Mitchelstown to Mallow Road.
Local reps, residents and truck drivers have described the road as dangerous and too narrow, and have staged several slow-drive protests in recent times.
The Council say the project will take 12 months to complete.
