The incoming Taoiseach Simon Harris will unveil his new look Cabinet next week without Minister Simon Coveney.
Yesterday the Enterprise Minister announced that he is to step down from Cabinet when the Dáil resumes.
He has served as a senior minister for 13 years and admitted his decision to step aside was influenced by Fine Gael's need for 'renewal'.
Speaking to RedFM News, Cathaoirleach of the Seanad, Jerry Buttimer says he always tried to keep the spotlight on Cork.
"Around Cork, it was about using Cork as the place to come and locate in terms of investments and jobs and industry, but also in terms of Government allocation of funding around key projects around light rail and BusConnects. And different key infrastructure projects, enhancing the public realm and the regeneration of the Docklands and the city so he has a legacy that he can be proud of."
