That's according to the Cork Chair of the Irish Hotels Federation Joe Kennedy who says hotels will face higher utility and food costs following a very difficult two years for the sector.
Hoteliers in Cork say bookings were very strong in March due to the double bank holiday weekend and St Patrick's Day and many are now relying on a strong summer season to get them back on track.
Speaking to RedFM News, manager of the Maldron Hotel in Shandon and Cork Chair of the IHF Joe Kennedy says further government support may be needed:
"It [inflation] is up there as a major challenge. We will need to regroup as a federation to look towards the government to go the extra mile with us as they have done in the last number of years, particularly holding onto our 9% VAT rate, which is key for the industry. It has to be said that with the inflation coming at us, we will be challenged."
