IFI staff attended the scene at Glanmire village yesterday following reports from the public that a section of the Glashaboy river had turned a blue/grey colour.
No fish fatalities have been recorded along the 1.5km stretch.
Inland Fisheries say they are not in position to confirm the exact cause of the pollution and have taken water samples for analysis.
