The INMO have accused the HSE of breaching the terms of an agreement to address the long-running trolley crisis in hospitals across the country.
The union say the number of people on trolleys in May and June is 'not normal' and is more similar to figures seen during the winter.
63 people were without a bed on trolleys at Cork University Hospital yesterday, while there was 11 at the Mercy University Hospital.
An agreement between the union and the HSE made at the WRC in 2016 saw the HSE reaffirm their commitment to filling vacant nursing roles and tackling hospital overcrowding.
Speaking to RedFM News, Colm Porter from the INMO in Cork outlines the unions demands:
"For the HSE emergency department Task Force to convene to poorly in our hospital by hospital plan, it's time to plan for the winter now, the INMO, we're seeking a national meeting with the Health and Safety Authority, as were concerned in relation to the lack of focus and attention to the legal requirements for the HSE and voluntary hospitals to provide a healthy and safe workplace. And then finally, for the Workplace Relations Commission to set an urgent date with the INMO to discuss what we now see is a breach of the emergency department agreement."
