One of the country’s largest concert promoters has revealed that insurance for one Ed Sheeran concert in Páirc Uí Chaoimh last month cost him €65,000.
Peter Aiken of Aiken Promotions was speaking in Cork following complaints from some fans about the cost of Bruce Springsteen tickets.
Seated tickets for the now sold-out gigs next year were between €96 and €156, while standing tickets were €131.
Speaking to RedFM News, Peter Aiken outlines how his costs have increased:
"When I insured... for Ed Sheeran, for one night, the Public Liability on it was about, because of what they were looking for, I'll tell you the truth, was €65,000. I'd 40,000 people in Belfast - it was £1500. Nobody in Belfast sues and everybody down here does. All the importable toilets I got... Everything's gone through the roof... Cleaners - a fella I use here, a Cork lad, all his rates have gone up. He's gone up like 7.5% on the quote he gave me the last time. The guards have even gone up on their price".
