Investigations are ongoing in the Wilton area of the city after a man was shot in the early hours of this morning
The 42 year-old man, originally from the northside of the city but who has been living on the Glasheen Road, remains in a stable condition in hospital this morning.
He was shot as he was coming from an apartment at Wilton Manor between 5am and 5.45a.m. this morning.
Neighbours say they head a scream followed by screeching tyres after the man was shot.
Gardaí are currently examining CCTV footage from the area and are urging anyone who may have noticed anything unusual to contact investigating Gardaí.
Speaking to RedFM News local Councillor and Former City Lord Mayor Colm Kelleher says the incident has shocked people:
"Completely shocked as to what has happened. So thankfully, there's nobody dead but it's absolutely disgraceful to hear news such as that this morning. We would pride ourselves on being a safe community and a safe culture, but hopefully the perpetrators will be found and prosecuted and the injured party hopefully will recover fairly quickly".
