Ireland's first baby bank says it’s helped over 100 struggling families with newborn babies in Cork this year.

Community Connect which provides baby equipment to people in financial stress, says it’s seeing a huge increase in the number of people needing its help.

The charity provides new mums with care packages as well as providing baby boxes filled with essentials such as nappies and clothes.

Speaking to RedFM News, Natalie Sutton from Community Connect in Cork says they help families who are really struggling:

"They've gotten referrals from the Good Shepherd Cork who deal with homeless, NASC who do refugee rights, social workers from CUMH who are referring families to us that can't afford all the things they need for young children."
