Pernod Ricard owners of Irish distillers in Midleton say they are still committed to building the new distillery despite a reduction in demand for spirits globally
Expansion plans have slowed down because of the change in the market.
Joe Lynam Business Editor for Red FM News explains that there is currently a reduced demand for these drinks,
"Irish distillers, everybody knows Jameson, Redbreast, Powers and Greenspot, according to research in the Sunday Times they're going to to pause their expansion in their Cork Middleton facility due to a slowdown in the spirits industry worldwide".
