That's according to the Irish Hotels Federation who say there has been a 5.3 billion euro hit to Irish Hotel Revenue as a result of Covid.

With the summer over, the sector is entering an uncertain nine months as booking levels fall sharply in the absence of overseas visitors which would normally sustain the sector during the off-peak season.

Fergal Harte, General Manager & Chair of the Irish Hotels Federation Cork Branch, told RedFM news, the federation is urging the Government for more support:

"We'd certainly like to see that support that has been provided for the hotel, and for the hospitality industry during the, during the crisis, and that continues to be provided. We'd like to see those extended well into next year. Certainly, possibly into into June next year, so that would be the employment wage subsidy scheme for example, the rates waiver, and also the VAT rate and to be kept out is reduced 9% Level up to 2025."
