Irish Water and the County Council have issued an urgent appeal to the public in Cork to conserve water.
The appeal comes as it was announced that night-time water restrictions will continue in the Clonakilty and Newmarket areas - until further notice.
The utility says more overnight shutdowns are likely on the way.
There's been a steady increase in the number of pumping stations that are struggling to deal with the drought conditions.
Nationally, 37 water supply plants have night-time restrictions, and a further 60 may need them in the coming days.
At present, overnight restrictions are in place in the Newmarket and Clonakilty areas between 11pm and 7am.
