Irish Water say they are making progress putting short- and medium-term solutions in place for the Whitegate Regional Water Supply.
There is currently a Boil Water Notice in place.
They say they are working to lift the Notice as quickly and safely as possible, but that this may take a number of weeks.
Major upgrades of the water treatment plant are needed to find a long-term solution.
A new treatment plant is planned, which will include new clarification, filtration and disinfection systems.
Irish Water anticipates that construction could begin in 2024, depending on the planning process.
For now, the Boil Water Notice remains in place until further notice.
