Irish Water has been forced to pull repair works in Carrigaline after two days of traffic chaos which included long traffic delays and bus services being delayed by an hour and half.
The road closure order on Church Road was due to be in place for over two months until May 19th to replace an old water main that has been causing problems.
However after commuters faced a second day of sitting in long queues which caused some to be late for work, college and schools in the area Irish Water has announced that it's to postpone the project.
Local councillors is calling for consultation ahead of the resumption of the works to ensure local industry and residents are not adversely impacted.
It's been suggested that the repair works should be carried out during the summer months, when traffic is calmer, and a stop-go system should be established.
