Local residents in the Springmount Estate, Cappagh House and Rope Walk areas of Kinsale say they have even considering moving out of the area due to the vile smell
Local Social Democrats TD Holly Cairns recently met residents who say they are deeply frustrated with the lack of action with regard to the stench coming from the plant .
In a statement issued to RedFM News this morning Irish water say they have been liaising with Deputy Cairns and the community on the odour issues and have a dedicated team working on it, however they say issues such as these take some time to pinpoint and rectify .
They say investigations are ongoing with a review of the current operation of the treatement plant underway along with continuous monitoring and testing at the plant
Irish Water is also examining to see if there are any associated issues with discharges into the network and have apologised to the communities of the affected areas.
