Issues at the Jack Lynch Tunnel with an upgraded height detection system which led to a number of temporary closures over the last few weeks have now been resolved
That's according to Transport Infrastructure Ireland who say the upgraded height detection system which was installed in the Tunnel this month, will activate and stop vehicles that are over the 4.6-metre height limit.
In a statement issued to RedFM News this morning TII says there were some false over height detections during the first few days of operations but the issue has now been resolved and the system is now fully operational..
The statement adds that the latest alert during rush hour on Monday was a valid detection however it led to severe traffic delays and gridlock in the area
TII say detections will be clearly identified if they are over the regulation height for the tunnel
