Management say they are expecting 60,000 arrivals and departures over Christmas- around half the number of people who passed through the terminal before the pandemic but a huge increase on the 8,787 passengers who used the airport in the entire month of December last year.
Passengers are being asked to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before their flight.
Speaking to RedFM News, Communications Manager at Cork Airport Kevin Cullinane has this advice for anyone collecting a passenger this weekend:
"European advice throughout the pandemic has been to try and keep the numbers within the terminal buildings limited to passengers, airline crew and airport staff. So we're encouraging people if they can at all to reconnect and meet people outside of the terminal. Make those arrangements in advance, use the multi storey carpark, use the car parks, use the free set down area as required. And try to limit coming into the terminal."
