The words of local councillor Mick Finn who knew the teenage boy who drowned while swimming in Passage West yesterday.
Jack O'Sullivan who was from Deerpark was swimming with his friends when he got into difficulty in the water.
A full inter-agency search got underway around 2pm yesterday before his body was taken from the water two hours later.
His body was removed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place.
Jack was due to start his second year at Coláiste Éamonn Rís next week.
