Jack O'Sullivan who was from Deerpark was swimming with his friends when he got into difficulty in the water.
A full inter-agency search got underway around 2pm yesterday before his body was taken from the water two hours later.
His body was removed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place.
Jack was due to start his second year at Coláiste Éamonn Rís next week.
