The Tánaiste's paid tribute to a famous Cork Chipper - which is closing its doors on Sunday after more than 70 years.
Micheál Martin's posted on X - saying the Jackie Lennox Chip Shop on Bandon Road is an iconic institution, and the family have made an outstanding contribution to Cork life.
Cork TD Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire, says it was a childhood favourite and he's broken-hearted to hear it's closing:
"Jackie Lennox's is an absolute Cork institution. It's heartbreaking. it was really disappointing, obviously, particularly for the Lennox family, and, of course, the staff and their families as well, it's a difficult time for them. And you know, we have all such fond memories there. I know going back since when I was a child, I've always loved it, and it's a huge loss, and it really is the end of an era, and a really special place and car history."
