21 year old Joshua Allen of Ballinamona, Shanagarry, Co Cork appeared at Midleton District Court today for a sentence hearing
He was found to have been in possession of €280 worth of cocaine at the pontoon in Midleton last summer at a previous sitting of the court by Judge Alec Gabbett
Today in court Allen’s Solicitor Don Ryan said his client maintained his innocence regarding the matter and presented a letter to the judge from Allen’s Mixed Martial Arts trainer and another letter to show that Allen had started a stone carving business.
Judge Gabbett noted a probation report deemed Allen at a high risk of re-offending.
Allen was freed on bail of €400 and will appear at the Circuit Court on the 7th of this month as today’s conviction triggered a previous suspended sentence.
Defence solicitor Don Ryan said Allen would be mounting a full appeal in the Circuit Court.
