The trial continues today of a 38-year-old woman charged with the murder of a two-year old girl in Cork nearly three years ago.
Karen Harrington with an address at Lakelands Crescent in Mahon denies murdering Santina Cawley who was found with serious injuries on the Boreenamanna Road.
Yesterday, the jury were shown CCTV footage of a female leaving the apartment complex where 2-year-old Santina was found critically injured.
Minutes later, Gardaí arrived onsite for the second time that night.
The alarm was raised after the toddler was found by her father in the early hours of the 5th of July 2019.
Santina passed away from her injuries in hospital a few hours later.
She had multiple bruises on her body, a fractured skull, fractured ribs and a brain injury.
The court previously heard that 37-year-old old Harrington was in a relationship with the child's father, Michael Cawley, at the time of the alleged offence.
The jury of five women and seven men heard evidence that CCTV footage was harvested from houses and business on the Boreenmanna Road, Blackrock and in the city centre.
Gardaí combed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage in to order to put a "montage of relevant footage" together to show the jury.
The jurors were shown CCTV footage of a woman, which Gardai believe to be Harrington, walking out of the Elderwood complex, having left her apartment, and walking along the Boreenmanna Road in the direction of Blackrock.
The case will continue today and is expected to last up to five weeks. It will involve the calling of up to 100 witnesses.
