Security is to be reviewed in the wake of the aggressive protests where bottles and bags of urine were also thrown at politicians
Cathaoirleach of the Seanad and Cork TD Jerry Buttimer told the Neil Prendeville Show that the demonstrations were nothing short of "thuggery"
"Members of staff were spat at and jeered at, with plastic bags of urine thrown at them. There was shouting, roaring, intimidatory behaviour in their faces. And I'm conscious that there was 13 people arrested and two of them are before the courts, this morning, and I don't want to prejudice that outcome, but what I want to say is that I respect the right of people to protest, but the thugish behaviour yesterday has no place in our in our democracy, in our Republic"
