Speed limits on rural roads in the city are set to be reduced.
Cork City Council says any 80 kilometre zones on busy commuter routes will be reduced to 60 kilometres per hour.
The reductions are set to come into effect in areas such as Kilcully, Blarney, Glanmire and Ballincollig on the 7th of February.
Speaking to RedFM News, Charlie Clarke from Kilcully Residents Association says there has been too many speed related collisions in his area:
"There are roads around the area, and I definitely believe they should be reduced. I don't think they were ever suitable for 80 kilometers per hour. Getting in down to 60 would be a big improvement, because there's been, for example, in the road where I'm living, which is the road with the St Catherine cemetery, there's been several accidents there a lot of due to speeding."
