The Irish community in Los Angeles say fleeing raging wildfires was absolutely terrifying.
24 people are now confirmed dead and at least 16 others are missing with emergency crews yet to inspect thousands of buildings.
Meanwhile, California's governor has accused Donald Trump of threatening fire fighters after the president-elect called crew battling the blazes "incompetent."
Speaking to the Neil Prendeville Show, Willie O' Sullivan from Mayfield who owns a bar in Santa Monica says packing up his belongings to escape the fire was terrifying:
"Tuesday night was basically the start of everything, and we all went to bed Tuesday night not knowing. Reporters were saying if it goes off the next hill, it's going to take half of West LA. So we all packed bags and basically sat at home, you know, barely sleeping, with our bags, ready to get the alerts on the phone, and then just go running. And as you're packing the bag, you're thinking to yourself, is this all I'm going to have left in the morning."
