Landlord due in court today following noise complaints from residents in UCC area

A landlord is due to appear at Cork District Court this morning following noise complaints from residents living in the area around UCC.

The case is being taken after two residents made a complaint under a part of the Environmental Protection Agency Act 1992 which concerns noise.

Residents staged a number of protests in the area in recent weeks after a number of so-called lockdown parties in student houses on College Road, Magazine Road, Glasheen Road and the surrounding areas.

Locals say they have engaged with several landlords who have evicted tenants, however they also say that some landlords are not doing enough to deal with the parties.

Speaking to RedFM News, Catherine Clancy from Magazine Road and Surrounding Areas residents association says the level of anti-social behaviour has improved but is still a huge concern for residents:
