Leap Card users can bring a friend on public transport for free over the February Bank Holiday Weekend.
The Leap Plus One initiative runs from Saturday the 4th to Monday the 6th of next month.
Transport Minister Eamon Ryan says it's a family friendly, environmentally helpful way to celebrate the first ever February Bank Holiday.
Ciaran Mears from the Cork Commuter Coalition says it'll also help reduce traffic at peak times:
"People are eager to get away for a bit of a long weekend, or seize the opportunity to do a bit more pottering about the city, so being able to bring a friend on the bus for free is quite good; both ensuring people can make the most of their extra day off and as well as reducing traffic as one of the most peak congestion times".
