The Leisureplex arcade and bowling ally in the city centre is set to become the city’s second Premier Inn.
Whitbread, the company which owns the Premier Inn brand, today announced that it had bought the iconic building on the corner of MacCurtain Street and Brian Boru Street.
It intends to redevelop it into a 168-bedroom hotel - pending planning, however the entertainment complex will remain open until redevelopment begins.
The protected building previously served as the 700-seater 'Coliseum Cinema' and as a post sorting office.
The first Premier Inn in Cork opened in the old Moore's Hotel building on Morisons Island at the end of January.
