Rita contacted the Neil Prendeville Show to speak about her aunt who she believes was scammed.
Rita's message to the Neil Prendeville Show read: "I have an 87 year old aunt who is visually impaired, living alone and is being targeted by a “local scumbag” up by Farmer’s Cross, he called to her to tell her he would cut her hedges (her hedges had already been cut). I believe he robbed her and tried to demand money off her last month - he called by the house and asked for petrol money for the lawnmower, she gave it to him, that was on a Monday. He came back two days later looking for more money - she refused him and he got very aggressive and he started shouting at her.
"Apparently she has been losing her tablets and her pension is vanishing and she was telling my own mum that there was a man in her house at different times and then her keys vanished and turned up which later we are now thinking were taken and copied and put back. My aunt is shook and we are trying to get the locks changed. It was an old post van we believe that called so people think that there are postmen trying to help the elderly.
"What alerted my cousin was the ladder on the roof of the van. We would love to try and sort security for her. He has been seen in Ballyphehane also, that’s where I live. People in Glanmire have also been scammed, someone in Douglas phoned me (a garden centre) to tell me he scammed them as well. He is tall, thin with metal rimmed glasses and wears a hat."
