The Council says promoters Live Nation and developers BAM are continuing to carry out a detailed design of the long awaited Cork Events Centre.
In a statement to RedFM News, the council says the completion of the design stage will allow the project to move to the construction phase.
€15 million was announced for the long-stalled project in Tuesday's Budget, prompting calls for clarity about the status of the centre.
The project is funded with €50 million in grant aid and €35 million from Live Nation and BAM.
€7 million of additional government funding was also agreed to cover construction inflation expenses as a result of delays caused by the pandemic.
