The Local Government Audit Service has expressed concern at the level of overtime and allowances at Cork City Council.
The Irish Examiner report that the Council paid out €12m in overtime and allowances to 999 employees in 2021.
Out of over 1,500 employees, 242 staff members received over €20,000 each.
New overtime policies were introduced by the Council in November of 2021, which has resulted in a decline in overtime payments in certain sections.
