Locals are calling on motorists to drive particularly carefully in the Ballincrokig and Kilcully areas.
The area has been the location of a number of fatal accidents in the last few years.
A recent Gardaí operation caught a significant number of drivers 'very significantly over the speed limit' - following complaints from the local community.
The City Council is currently preparing a pedestrian safety scheme for the area.
