Locals in Ballincollig say the City Council has not fulfilled promises made about Ballincollig Fire Station following the City Boundary Extension.
Campaigners will gather outside the town's fire station on Friday evening to call for it to be re-opened with a full time fire crew.
Firefighters in the city are taking part in industrial action in response to what they say is the lack of urgency from the Council in addressing the closure.
The action is not impacting emergency cover in any of the areas served by the city fire service, however crews say they are willing to take further action...
The Council says it is willing to enter into talks with SIPTU at the WRC , however the union say they will not enter into talks unless the Council first puts forward a plan to reopen Ballincollig Fire Station.
Local campaigner Mags McKenna says people in the town are worried about the situation.
"The boundary extension was in 2019, and we were promised an equal to our better service back then. It's 2023 and we have absolutely nothing out here.
"There's a population of over 20,000 in Ballincollig, and then you have Aherla, Killumney, Farren. It's scary and it's very worrying, and we need something to change.
"We want City Council to listen to us. We need a full time crew out here. We need something - at the moment there's nothing here."
