An audience member on last Friday's edition of 'The Graham Norton Show' sat in his Big Red Chair and told the host she lived in Ireland for 20 years.
When Norton asked her where she lived, she said Fermoy, which she described as a "horrible, horrible town" which has a bridge "if people want to jump off it".
It's understood the local Tidy Towns Committee is contacting the BBC to express its anger over the comments.
Speaking to RedFM News Local Fine Gael Councillor Noel McCarthy says locals were very upset by her comments
"It was one woman giving her opinion but on a show that has big viewers and painting the town, in my opinion, completely in the wrong. We are going to write to the Graham Norton Show and ask if they could mention it and let them know that we were upset over it, and maybe invite Graham as well, when he comes back to his beloved West Cork. He might drop by for a visit and we can show him around the town and see what we have to offer, because we are very proud of the town"
