Locals in West Cork are demanding their voices are heard ahead of any further speed reductions on secondary roads.
L roads were cut to 60km/h down from 80km/h 2 weeks ago with further measures to follow this year.
Calls have been made for a public consultation ahead of any further reduction of speed limits.
A public meeting was held in Dunmanway on Friday by locals who say speed reductions on roads such as the N71 Bandon Road could cause huge disruption to travel.
Speaking to RedFM News, Cork SouthWest TD Michael Collins says locals want their say before any decisions on roads are made:
"We want to work with the local authority and if there's an area where there's black spots a drop will have to take place in those areas, but where there isn't and where there's business people and ordinary people going to work everyday, that those speed limits should stay the same."
