Front line workers, members of the public and local representatives will gather in the square in Bantry on Sunday at 1pm to protest against admission restrictions at the hospital .
The South/South West Hospital Group says consultants will start at the hospital in September, however local GPs say people's lives are being put at risk now due to journey times to reach Cork University Hospital.
Cork TD Michael Collins has raised the issue with the Health Minister on a number of occasions.
He told RedFM News that people in the area are fed up of being ignored:
"The HSE has been making statements over the last number of days, saying that it will remain closed until September, so I think your protest will send a very clear message to the Minister, that the people of West Cork and South Kerry can't continue to put their lives at risk without admissions been reopened in Bantry General Hospital."
