The Lord Mayor of the City says there are streets she will not walk down by herself because she would not feel safe.
Cllr Deirdre Forde also says there are times when she would not be allowed to walk down certain streets on her own due to her status as First Citizen.
There have been calls for an increased Garda presence on the streets for years, with parts of the City described as 'no-go' areas in recent times.
Lord Mayor Cllr Deirdre Forde told Virgin Media News that it shouldn't be the case:
"I'm a fairly strong individual thankfully, but there are moments when I would not walk down some streets on my own. And certainly as Lord Mayor, I wouldn't be allowed to walk down on my own. And that's a sad reflection".
