The Lord Mayor of Cork says there are huge opportunities for Cork and Korea to strengthen commercial and cultural ties.
Councillor Deirdre Forde and the City Librarian, David O'Brien, attended an International Conference to speak about Cork City’s Decade of Centenaries programme.
They also met with the Corkonian Civil Society in Seoul, including business representatives.
The Lord Mayor lay a wreath at the Korean War memorial in commemoration of combatants from Cork who died in the Korean War.
Speaking to RedFM News, Councillor Deirdre Forde says she is delighted to be the first sitting Lord Mayor of Cork to visit Korea:
"Korea, like Ireland, is a very outward facing country, and Cork is a great place for international students, for example, to hone their skills and further their education. Exciting possibilities exist for future links".
