A residents association say the majority of privately rented properties around UCC are not registered with the RTB.
It comes as Chairperson, Catherine Clancy and the Magazine Road and Surrounding Area's Resident's Association are calling on all landlords to register their property with the Residential Tenancies Board.
Members of the community that have problems with local houses say they find it difficult to get in contact with landlords about anti-social behaviour from tenants or poor maintenance of properties in the area.
Speaking to RedFM News Chairperson of The Magazine Road and Surrounding Areas Residents Association, Catherine Clancy says that the situation delay's tenants getting deposits' back or resolving issues they have with the property.
"By making complaints to the RTB and informing them, wee have seen no action on their behalf.
"What it appears to us is that the RTB leaves the regulation to the landlord - leaving the regulations the landlord is not working, reaching out to landlords is not clearly working.
"What we want to know is the RTB to become proactive and go out there and identify those properties in the interest of us as a local community, and in the interest of the state knowing how many rental properties that are out there."
