Magazine Road Residents Calling For NCT-Type Tests For Rented Properties And Licensing Of Landlords

It follows a number of Covid-19 lockdown parties in the City in recent weeks

The Magazine Road and Surrounding Areas Residents Association brought a case against landlord Fachtna O'Reilly who owns two properties in the area where large student parties have been held for over 7 weeks.

This morning Judge Olann Kelleher told Fachtna O'Reilly from Model Farm, Carrigrohane that he faces a €1,000 fine or 12 months in prison if there is a proven breach of a noise protection order at his two properties.

Residents are now seeking a radical overhaul of the current legislation on the management and upkeep of rented properties.
