A major fundraising campaign has been launched to restore the Sirius Arts Centre, the former clubhouse of the Royal Cork Yacht Club, in Cobh.

The €2 million multi-phase restoration and conservation project is required to address the building’s structure, including terrace underpinning, the reinstatement of historic chimneys, lead roofing and distinctive roof lantern as well as remodelled gallery space, a new artist in residence facility and a café.

Speaking at the launch of the fundraising campaign, Sirius Arts Centre Chairperson Glen Barry said, “The Sirius Arts Centre is an important architectural and historic site as well as a cultural resource for the Region, facilitating and developing artist expression on a local, national and international stage. As stewards of this special building, we want and need to ensure its conservation and restoration now and into the future for all to enjoy. We have had great support internationally for this fundraising campaign, and we really want to engage now with Irish benefactors and the community in our Region to support this important work.”
